Festival Experience

We spotted this festival by chance on our way to see the Kunishige Sairei in Kunishige, Noto Town. The procession started with the mikoshi being carried down from Yamaguchi Shrine. After carefully bringing the mikoshi down the stairs, it was placed onto a wheeled cart. The Kiriko followed a few minutes later. Thankfully, they did not use the stairs and instead took a sloped route down.

It seemed that some of the carriers had come from Kanazawa rather than being mainly local residents. This was also noticeable because the carriers appeared consistently young, which is not usually the case at the local Kiriko festivals I have attended. Similar to the Kunishige Sairei, the Kiriko went ahead while the mikoshi followed behind.
